In service to the community
Women of Bangladeshi Heritage (WBH) is dedicated to engaging Bangladeshi women residing in the United States within their local communities.
Our projects, driven by local needs and member interests, focus on community service, cultural engagement, and leadership development.
Through our volunteer charitable work, we aim to foster empowerment and social inclusion among women, reflecting our mission.
Who we are
OUR PURPOSE:
- Promote sisterhood.
- Provide a platform for networking among Bengali women by sharing our interests, talents and experiences.
- A space to share and discuss various issues that pertain to our daily lives, exchange ideas and share resources.
OUR MISSION:
- Empower Bangladeshi women within their local communities in the United States.
OUR GOAL:
- Embrace our hybrid Bangladeshi-American culture and build awareness through community service.
Celebrating community: our photo gallery
We just completed our Back to school supplies drive.
We went shopping at Target where our young volunteers used a list provided by The INN to pick up items for elementary school students. We then assembled a dozen backpacks with the supplies at Qawah House
Each volunteer wrote a positive note to put into each backpack for the child who will receive it, and were awarded a certificate with community
Thank you, Zakat Foundation of America for the recognition. We are grateful to be able to work together on several projects over the years and look forward to continuing to do so in the future.
Thank you to our speakers Nasrin Khan and Shireen Quaizer for an informative and entertaining session. Participants received valuable knowledge on Perimenopause and how to manage symptoms, including the use of holistic forms for self-care. Attendees enjoyed a session of aromatherapy and received a sample of Shireen’s homemade aromatherapy oils to take home.
$200 raised was donated to Shelter Rock
We are grateful to the community for coming together to make this bazaar a success; those who donated, volunteered, and shopped, this was a success because of you. We raised $2000 to benefit Al-Mamoor School; donated books for their upcoming library. We also gave away for free to those in need. On May 25th, 2026, WBH joined Uthan Senior Home Care for a community service day. It was a great way for our youths and juniors to spend quality time with our elders. A full schedule of activities included music, board games, passing the parcel, build with LEGO , seated exercises and nutrition counseling. We concluded with a nutritious lunch and the kids bagged 5 hours of community service! We loo
On May 12th, WBH members visited the office of Asiyah Women's Center in Brooklyn to deliver the donations we raised from our cookie decorating event! We are thankful for a successful event and to be able to give towards an organization working to help women in NYC. We are grateful to all who attended the cookie decorating!
